Northwest Soccer Foundation Unanimously Approves Bruce Corrie as Board Treasurer

The Northwest Soccer Foundation has unanimously approved Bruce Corrie as its new Board Treasurer and fourth member of the Board of Directors.

The Northwest Soccer Foundation has unanimously approved Bruce Corrie as its new Board Treasurer and fourth member of the Board of Directors.

Corrie joins the Foundation at a critical moment for the soccer landscape in the Pacific Northwest. As the game continues to grow at the youth, collegiate, and lower league levels, financial discipline and governance matter more than ever. His background uniquely bridges both worlds.

Corrie’s playing career began at Mount Si High School, where he earned 2x 1st Team All-KingCo honors as a goalkeeper. He went on to compete at Western Illinois University in the NCAA Division I Summit League from 2015 to 2019. He has also represented Cascade FC and PSPL, now WPL, and currently plays semi-professionally with Bellevue Athletic FC in the UPSL.

While his experience on the field is notable, it is his professional finance background that positions him to lead the Foundation’s financial oversight.

Corrie earned a Bachelor of Business in Finance from Western Illinois University in 2019. He then spent six years at WaFd Bank, advancing from Teller and Personal Banker to Branch Manager and Community Business Banker. In his role within the Eastside Division, he managed mid-sized business relationships across 14 branches, structured lines of credit and term loans, and worked directly on improving operational efficiency and division performance.

For a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the Treasurer role carries legal responsibility. Federal tax law requires charitable organizations to maintain control and discretion over funds, ensure assets are used in furtherance of their exempt purpose, and prevent private inurement or improper pass-through activity. Financial oversight includes monitoring cash flow and reserves, reviewing restricted versus unrestricted funds, maintaining internal controls, and supporting accurate Form 990 reporting.

Corrie’s experience operating in a regulated banking environment brings compliance discipline, documentation rigor, and risk management experience to the Foundation’s board.

Beyond finance, he remains actively engaged in the regional soccer ecosystem. In 2024, he founded Lower League Scout NW (@lowerleaguescountnw), a digital platform centralizing coverage of amateur and semi-professional soccer throughout the Pacific Northwest. The platform generates approximately 50,000 profile engagements per month without paid advertising. He also coaches at Bellevue High School and serves as Goalkeeper Coach at Northwest University.

His continued involvement at multiple levels of the game provides valuable perspective as the Foundation allocates grants, manages scholarships, and evaluates fiscal sponsorship partnerships. Financial decisions in a nonprofit directly impact players, families, and community programs.

Nonprofit boards are not advisory bodies. They are legally accountable for stewardship of charitable assets. As the Northwest Soccer Foundation expands its reach and funding partnerships, financial governance must scale accordingly.

Corrie’s appointment strengthens the Foundation’s transparency, compliance posture, internal controls, and long-term sustainability.

The vote was unanimous.

Welcome to the Northwest Soccer Foundation, Bruce.
